del Rio

Project Description

Jim and Carol Young are proposing a 345-unit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) currently zoned for 72 units in unincorporated Auburn, Nevada County, California. Read more >>

According to the Rincon del Rio DEIR (pg 3.12-4), “the Draft Economic Analysis of the Proposed Rincon del Rio Senior Housing Project in Nevada County, California (Applied Development Economics 2009) indicates that as many as 60 to 70 percent of the proposed project’s residents would be drawn from western Nevada County and that the project is intended to serve existing Nevada County senior residents.” Is this prediction realistic?

What is a CCRC and can Nevada County residents afford it?

Why This Project Should Concern You...

The developer intends to change zoning regulations and Nevada County’s General Plan. You may live near one of the 25 areas of Nevada County that meet the acreage criteria for CCRCs per the proposed text amendments (Nevada County Rincon del Rio CCRC DEIR, January 2012). Your neighborhood could be the next to be considered collateral damage to any developer’s “vision.”

If the project is approved and construction begins, increased traffic and car accidents on California State Route 49 (SR-49) from Rincon Way may impact your commute.

This is in our backyard for the moment, but a big development like Rincon del Rio could be in your backyard next!  Read more >>
